Who’s In Charge?

Nigel Horbury, a Brit with nearly 30 years experience in the automotive field.  As a schoolboy in the Yorkshire Dales, Land Rovers were as normal a part of the scenery as the sheep and their border collies that kept them in order.  Horbury first came to the US in 1987 with Germany’s premiere New Jersey based Mercedes specialist tuner, Lorinser, and then later to Greensboro-based BMW racing and performance experts, Korman Autoworks.  As a now 12-year resident of of the beautiful NC mountains, Horbury hopes he can persuade you to give his new facility off Poplar Grove Rd the opportunity to prove that him and his staff run a different kind of operation.

Our Staff

Winston Lawrence is head tech/chief mechanic here right now.  Been a part of the High Country auto scene for 15 years now.  Certified    ASE master technician and has most of those years working on European cars – which just happens to be his passion too.  Excellent at diagnosing and communicating those findings to the non-mechanically minded.

Jim Brooks is consultant technician and is a certified BMW master technician.  When the pressure’s on and we need to bring in extra help, Jim jets in from West Jefferson to help us problem solve the more complex issues.  Hugely experienced with over 35 years hands-on most of which were dealing with the pure mechanics of a car and not relying on the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) scanning devices to tell what’s going on.
